John Ortiz is an Army Veteran who served as a Petroleum Laboratory Specialist for four years. He was promoted to Sergeant with the authority to lead soldiers, and served his command group as the Command Sergeant Major and Lieutenant Colonel driver. John deployed to Kuwait and Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After being honorably discharged in 2006, John worked as a Senior Wireline Operator for Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield services company. In this role, which he held for nearly 10 years, John was responsible for leading, training and mentoring crews.
Like his wife Jaime, John has an innate drive to serve and support his community of fellow servicemen and women. He has formed a partnership with Brothers Keepers, a local nonprofit that provides once-in-a-lifetime experiential retreats and ongoing support for wounded Veterans, first responders and their families. In his spare time, John also repairs and donates bicycles to Veteran homeless shelters.
Jaime, John and their three children reside in Fort Worth, TX.
